Having used this Sezam24 kiosk for a while we made a decision to reduce the position of receptionist. And I can say that we are not going to return to our previous work-style.

So today we are going to talk with Elena Trubachyova, a general manager of Balu Project complex.

Elena, could you please tell us more about Balu Project, what it is, what services you provide to customers

Elena Trubachyova:

Balu Project is, if I may say so, a kind of symbiosis of a restaurant and apartments. We provide our guests with the accommodation in very comfortable apartments with beautiful city views and also our customers have the possibility to visit our panorama restaurant.

Maria Slobodskaya:

What do you think about automation? Do you use automation in your business? And which way?

Elena Trubachyova:

Yes, of course we don’t stand aside, we are affected too. For example in our restaurant we use a special cash register system that helps managers to control all the processes occurring in the restaurant, I mean the processes occurring both in the kitchen and here in the restaurant hall, you see…

Maria Slobodskaya:

You mean a waiter already uses this system taking an order, am I right?

Elena Trubachyova:

Indeed, all our waiters always carry smartphones connected to our cash register system, so the system receives the information about an order at once and then sends this information directly to the kitchen, and thus our cooks can immediately start cooking.

This way lets us speed up all the processes of taking orders and informing the kitchen of these orders. And what is important, it shows our professional approach to business which our guests can see and experience in our restaurant.

As for our apartments, here we also use innovations. Recently we installed a new terminal, a very interesting solution. It allows our guests to check in by themselves easy and quickly, and I can keep under review all the processes occurring through this terminal as well.

Maria Slobodskaya:

And what the staff is doing while guests are checking in? Do you have special staff for check-in as usual?

Elena Trubachyova:

Earlier we had a classic reception with a girl at check-in counter, but then we installed the terminal, finished customization and got it all act together… And having used this terminal for a while we made a decision to reduce the post of receptionist. And I can say that we are not going to return to our previous work-style. We found a new way of working since we understood that we didn’t need a receptionist any more because we saw that guests can check in by themselves, make a payment for accommodation, receive a room key card from the terminal and all that is left to do for a guest is to find the right apartment and settle in.

Maria Slobodskaya:

And why it was the Sezam24 that you’ve chosen?

Elena Trubachyova:

Well we have been thinking over all this for a long time, we had an idea of having some kind of robot at the reception, because it’s much more convenient, it saves the time, and what is rather important too — it prevents us from mistakes related to the human factor. I say that it’s important because, as you know, Czech legislation is very strict, so it’s much better when a technical device, not a human, deals with such data requiring accuracy.

Elena Trubachyova:

First we saw the Sezam24 at For Gastro and Hotels 2018 exhibition in Prague. We liked the way it looked, its simple clean design, and after that we evaluated the ease of its use. It fulfills all our expectations, all we expected from such a system.
